By Zoila Palma: The Government of Belize (GOB) today issued a statement condemning “the continued military intimidation by the People’s Republic of China against Taiwan. Such actions undermine peace, stability, and dialogue across the Taiwan Strait.”
The statement comes as China reportedly conducts military drills around Taiwan, simulating the seizure and blockade of key areas on the island as a warning against “separatist forces.”
The exercises reportedly involve China’s army, navy, air force, and rocket force, and include live-fire drills, according to BBC reports.
In its statement, Belize emphasized its stance on the issue, noting that “Belize reaffirms its strong support for Taiwan and for the peaceful resolution of differences in accordance with international law.”
