By Zoila Palma: Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller is proudly representing Belize City at the Smart City World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, the world’s leading forum for urban innovation.
“His participation, funded and supported by the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) with backing from the European Union, underscores Belize City’s growing leadership in climate-smart urban development,” the Belize City Council noted.
Municipal leaders from Africa, Europe, Central and South America, and the Caribbean are coming together to shape the future of smart, resilient, and climate-ready cities.
As the Council member responsible for e-governance, Deputy Miller is spotlighting Belize City’s progress in digital transformation, sustainability, and climate resilience on the global stage.
Today, he joined GCoM’s business matchmaking sessions, meeting with CocoParks, an AI-powered mobility and parking solutions company. He also delivered a joint presentation with Blue21 at the Clean Cities Pavilion, unveiling the Floating Boardwalk Concept for the Southern Foreshore—a bold, climate-adaptive project now advancing through feasibility. He presented alongside Vicky Lin, Business Development and Operations Manager at Blue21.
“Belize City’s presence at the Congress ensures that Caribbean voices and small coastal cities are part of the global climate innovation movement, forging partnerships that bring technology, opportunity, and climate finance back home,” the council added.
Deputy Mayor Miller is joined by City Planner Carla Patnett, as the team continues a week of sub-national diplomacy, collaboration, and climate leadership.
