By Aaron Humes: 52-year-old shop owner Sumei Kuang of Lakeview Street, Belize City, told police that she was held up Thursday morning on her return from the bank.
According to Kuang, around 9:45 a.m., she was opening her garage to park her vehicle when two men whose faces were masked by stockings, grabbed her and pushed her inside. One of them pointed a firearm at her forehead while holding her by the neck and demanded money as his partner pulled the shutters down.
Kuang handed over a bag containing $3,000 cash and various identification and financial documents as well as her gun license.
Kuang attended the hospital for slight bruises on her neck. According to police, the surveillance cameras in the area are currently down so no useful information was obtained. Investigations continue.
