By Zoila Palma: Today, Mayor Bernard Wagner represented Belize City at the GPSC Mayors’ Roundtable in Brazil, delivering remarks during the session on Driving Low Carbon Transformation.
He spotlighted the city’s advancements in eMobility as part of its broader sustainable urban development agenda, emphasizing Belize City’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions through inclusive and resilient urban transportation.
Mayor Wagner noted that these efforts have earned Belize City recognition as a finalist in the 2025 Local Leaders Awards.
He was joined by Mayor Wally Núñez of San Pedro and Chairman Warren Garbutt of Placencia, engaging with city leaders from across the region to exchange experiences and promote the development of climate-resilient, sustainable cities.
The event was organized by the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC), in partnership with the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), providing an interactive forum for dialogue on the next generation of urban sustainability solutions.
