By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident Malcolm Meyers has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison following his arraignment today at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm.

Meyers appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #3, where he was read two counts of attempted murder in connection with the June 23, 2025, shooting of 53-year-old Jeffrey Smith and 52-year-old Earl Parks, a security guard.

According to police reports, Smith and Parks were riding their bicycles with a third companion on Hydes Lane in the early hours of June 23 when they came under fire from suspected gang elements. Both men were injured and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Meyers, who was unrepresented in court, is scheduled to return to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on April 15, 2025. He now joins Raheem Marsden, who was charged in 2024 in connection with the same shooting. Marsden was initially remanded but later secured bail after 90 days in custody.
