By Breaking Belize News Staff: Martin Santos, 37, a resident of Eve Street and employee of Caribbean International, is out on bail after being charged with common assault against his estranged common-law wife, who is also the mother of his son.
The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Santos appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutors raised no objection to bail but requested conditions, which were granted. Santos was offered bail of $800 plus one surety and ordered to stay 100 yards away from the complainant, her family members, and not to interfere with her while the case is before the court.
When asked if the conditions would prevent him from seeing his son, the Senior Magistrate clarified that visits must be arranged through a third party but stressed that the conditions would not bar him from maintaining contact with his child.
Santos also told the court that he has been served with documents to appear in Family Court in relation to his estranged partner. His next court date on the assault charge is set for October 14, 2025.
