Belize City man fined $55 for being caught with knife after 8:30 p.m.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Kirk Pitts, 46, a Belize City resident was fined $55 in court on Wednesday after being charged for carrying a knife after 8:30 p.m.

Pitts was read a single charge of possession of an article with a blade. It is illegal to be caught with a knife after 8:30 p.m.

He was caught in the wee hours of Wednesday morning with the knife. He told the court he had it so he could cut a wire in his house to get light. Pitts was fined $50 plus $5 cost of court. He has to pay by March 28 or face one week in jail.
