By Zoila Palma:  The Belize City Council has officially launched the feasibility study for the Belize City Floating Boardwalk Project, hosting a kickoff mission this week with key international and local partners.

Mayor Bernard Wagner and city officials welcomed experts from Blue21 and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM), funded by the EU, for meetings at City Hall and the Office of the Prime Minister.

The study explores a sustainable floating boardwalk along the Southern Foreshore to boost tourism, recreation, and climate resilience.

Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño, tourism leaders, and technical experts also joined the discussion.

Supported by the Dutch Government, the study is set for completion by January 2026.

“We thank all partners, stakeholders, and technical teams involved, and look forward to a productive week of collaboration and exploration,” the Belize City Council said.
