By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 48-year-old Belize City land surveyor has been fined after pleading guilty to possession of a utensil used for smoking crack cocaine.
Dean Middleton, of Santa Barbara Street, appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
Middleton was charged after police found him in possession of a bronze metal pipe on Oleander Street on September 17, 2026.
He pleaded guilty and, in mitigation, asked the court for leniency, telling the magistrate that he is gainfully employed and was sorry for the offence.
The court took into consideration that it was Middleton’s first conviction of this nature and imposed a non-custodial sentence.
Middleton was fined $150 plus $5 cost of court. He has until October 31, 2026, to pay the fine, or he will face one month in prison.
