By Horace Palacio: Belize City police are investigating a home burglary that took place in the Belama Phase 2 neighborhood sometime between late Sunday night and early Monday morning. Authorities believe the residence was targeted while the caretaker was out of the country.
The incident, reported at 8:50 a.m. on April 29, involved forced entry into a cream-colored concrete house located in the 2100 block of Waha Leaf Street. A neighbor observed signs of a break-in and contacted the absentee caretaker.
Upon police arrival, two laptops and a bottle of rum were reported missing from the home. Evidence suggests the burglar or burglars damaged locks on the front and back burglar bar doors before prying open the front door.
Scene of Crime technicians processed the scene and were able to collect a partial fingerprint. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
