Belize City fisherman remanded after allegedly sneaking into ex’s house through bedroom window and slapping her after breakup

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 32-year-old Belize City fisherman has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged in connection with an alleged domestic dispute involving the mother of his children.

Ramzee Roman Palma, also known as “Terral Palma,” appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with burglary with intent to cause bodily harm and harm upon a 30-year-old woman.

The harm charge stems from an alleged incident on Friday, August 14, while the burglary charge relates to an incident the following day.

Palma pleaded not guilty and maintained in court that he had not entered the woman’s home. The Magistrate cautioned him against saying more about the allegations while unrepresented, explaining that he could potentially incriminate himself.

The prosecution objected to bail, citing the serious nature of the burglary allegation and concerns surrounding domestic violence cases.

Palma pleaded with the court for bail, telling the Magistrate that he has three children at home and that his imprisonment would negatively affect his family. The Magistrate, however, upheld the prosecution’s objection and remanded him to prison until October 13, 2026. He was informed of his right to apply to the High Court for bail.

According to police, the Gender Violence Response and Investigation Unit responded to a report on New Road early on August 14 and spoke with the woman, who reported that she and Palma had recently separated after being in a relationship for approximately eight years.

The woman alleged that at about 3:00 a.m. she was awakened by the sound of her bedroom window being opened and saw Palma entering the room without her permission.

She told police that an argument subsequently developed and Palma allegedly slapped her to the right side of her face, causing pain and swelling.

Police say officers observed swelling to the woman’s face and issued her medico-legal forms. A statement was recorded, and Palma was subsequently detained and charged with burglary and harm.
