By Zoila Palma:  The Belize City Council has officially launched its second Youth Connect Student Hub, located at the Hope Resource Center on Central American Boulevard.

The new facility marks a significant step forward in the Council’s 2024–2027 manifesto promise to expand access to safe, supportive, and well-resourced after-school environments for young people throughout the city.

Building on the success of the original hub at City Hall, the new center aims to provide vital academic and personal development resources to students from the Pickstock, Freetown, and Lake Independence areas, as well as surrounding communities.

Key services offered at the new hub include:

The project was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Belize City Council and Change Agent Builders, with additional support from Hon. Anthony Mahler and the Pickstock Constituency.

The launch event was attended by Minister Francis Fonseca of the Freetown Constituency, along with representatives from the Lake Independence Committee, reflecting a strong show of unity and commitment to youth empowerment in Belize City.

The Council extended heartfelt thanks to all individuals and organizations who contributed to bringing the hub to life.

In a message to students, the Council emphasized: “This is your hub—your space to learn, grow, and find the support you need. We can’t wait to welcome you.”
