By Zoila Palma: Recently, the Belize City Council, under the coordination of CEMO, hosted the 2nd Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) Workshop bringing together representatives from UN Women, UNDRR-Las Américas y El Caribe (UNDRR), international NGOs, and key local stakeholders to advance disaster risk management in Belize City.
This 2-day follow-up workshop built on the outcomes of the first session, focusing on refining the city’s Local Resilience Action Plan through the integration of gender equality, intersectionality, and inclusive approaches to resilience planning.
“Together, participants worked to ensure that Belize City’s strategies are people-centered, equitable, and responsive to the diverse needs of all residents — from women and youth to persons with disabilities,” the Belize City Council noted.
The Belize City Council said that with shared commitment and collaboration, Belize City continues to strengthen its capacity to withstand, recover, and adapt to future challenges, making our city safer, smarter, and more inclusive for everyone.
