Belize City Council engages youth at its 3rd Annual Youth Panel Discussion on Gender-based Violence

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: In commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, the Belize City Council, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF Belize, RET International, the Belize City Child Advisory Body, and the Department of Youth Services, hosted its 3rd Annual Youth Panel Discussion on Gender-based Violence, Violence Against Women and Girls and Human Trafficking at the Belize Biltmore Plaza in Belize City. 

The panel was complemented by sensitization sessions for over 300 youth across Belize.

It included youth surveys, round table planning activities, and a marketplace where partner agencies showcased their youth service delivery. 

The Belize City Council thanked feature panelists:

Gina Tejeda- Belize City Youth Shadow Councilor 

Asher Torres- Belize City Child Advisory Body Member 

Kristoff Enriquez- UNFPA’s Youth Advisory Group Member

Jeavannie De Paz- Muffles College Student

Aiden Genus- Toledo Community College Student 

The Belize City Council also expressed gratitude to all partner agencies for assistance provided in amplifying youth voices through forums such as these.
