By Zoila Palma: The Belize City Council is hosting their counterparts from Miramar, Florida.
On day two of the Belize City–Miramar Sister City Exchange, the delegations participated in a series of productive engagements aimed at strengthening ties and fostering collaboration between the two cities.
The delegation kicked off the day with a working session alongside the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), exploring ways to boost private sector development and economic opportunity through joint initiatives.
The exchange continued with high-level meetings, including a discussion with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture and Immigration Francis Fonseca, who offered insights into Belize’s cultural and foreign policy priorities
Participants also visited Di Bruwry to learn about Belize’s local brewing industry, followed by an educational tour of the Museum of Belize, where the delegation immersed themselves in the country’s history and cultural heritage.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, Kareem Musa, Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado, and CEO Sharole Carr-Saldivar.
Discussions focused on key areas of mutual interest, including public safety strategies and youth engagement programs aimed at building safer, more inclusive communities.
The day concluded with a cultural showcase that celebrated Belize’s rich and diverse heritage.
Guests were treated to a performance by the Garifuna Wabagari Dance Group and the vibrant rhythms of a steelpan ensemble.
Officials from both cities expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit of the exchange and shared optimism about formalizing future partnerships to strengthen the sister city relationship.
