By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Premier League of Belize champions Verdes FC will conclude their high-intensity Mexican pre-season tour this Saturday, July 19, with an early morning matchup against Pioneros de Cancún at Estadio Cancún. The kickoff against the Liga Premier Serie A club is set for 8:00 am local time.
The final fixture follows a rigorous international schedule that has tested the Green Machine’s resilience and tactical depth. Head coach Manuel Can has used the tour to rotate his roster, sharpen player chemistry, and simulate competitive conditions ahead of Verdes’ inaugural appearance in the CONCACAF Central American Cup on July 29. That tournament debut pits them against Honduran powerhouse Motagua at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
Mexican Tour Highlights
After a tight 1–0 loss to Club Inter Playa in Playa del Carmen on Tuesday, Verdes showed spirit in their second outing, rallying to a 1–1 draw against Cancún FC on Wednesday, July 16, at Estadio Andrés Quintana Roo. Mexican forward Omar Rosas came off the bench to level the match, marking Verdes’ first goal on Mexican soil this tour.

Verdes FC’s rigorous pre-season is not only a tune-up for CONCACAF duty but also a primer for defending their domestic crown in the 2025–2026 Premier League of Belize Opening Championship.
Coach Manuel Can remains focused on building depth, especially as he juggles international commitments with domestic ambitions. With standout performers like Rosas proving their worth and fresh talents eager to break into the starting XI, the squad looks to peak just in time for competitive action.
Saturday’s Pioneros clash will provide a final test — a chance to seal the tour with a win and enter the Central American Cup with momentum and positive belief.
