Belize challenge Guyana in FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in Bridgetown on Tuesday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize will be playing their second game in the FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm Belize time (6:00 pm Guyana time) at the Wildey Astro Turf Stadium in Bridgetown, Barbados against Guyana.

Belize had a bad start, stumbling 4-0 to Nicaragua last Saturday at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. Guyana, who call themselves the Golden Jaguars, are not much better off as they lost 2-0 away to Panama last Thursday.

Nicaragua and Panama both have six points after winning their first two games but Nicaragua lead Group D on goal difference (+7 to +4). Guyana (-2), Belize (-4), and Montserrat (-5) follow without a point in third, fourth, and fifth places respectively.

Nicaragua booted off Montserrat 4-1 last Wednesday in Managua before blanking Belize, while Panama dispatched Montserrat 3-1 in Managua, Nicaragua on Sunday in their second game.

The Belize-Guyana match is the last one for this year in the World Cup Qualifiers for Group D.

The remaining five qualifying matches will be played in June 2025.

Belize will play away tackle Montserrat on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 and will then take on Central American powerhouse Panama on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the FFB Stadium. 

The top two teams in each group advance to the third round of the Concacaf Qualifiers.

In other Concacaf Qualifiers on Tuesday, St Lucia drew 2-2 with Aruba at the Wildey Astro Turf Stadium in Bridgetown ahead of the Guyana-Belize match. St Kitts and Nevis take on the Bahamas in Basseterre, the Dominican Republic play at home against the British Virgin Islands in Santo Domingo, and Puerto Rico play at home in Bayamón against Anguilla. The Cuba-Cayman Islands scheduled for Santiago de Cuba has been postponed.
