By Zoila Palma: On Sunday, September 21, 2025, Belizeans across the nation proudly marked the country’s 44th Independence Day under the theme “Stronger Together, Rising Forever.”
From north to south, the red, white, and blue Belizean flag waved high as citizens turned out in large numbers to celebrate the milestone with vibrant parades and cultural displays.
In the capital and towns nationwide, parades were filled with color and creativity.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH)showcased stunning models of its modular housing program, while the Ministry of Agriculture’s float drew applause with a live bull, a sheep, and lush plants symbolizing the nation’s agricultural strength.
Children dressed in creative costumes, including the keel-billed toucan—Belize’s national bird—added a special cultural flair to the festivities.
Local businesses also proudly took part, with representatives joining the parades to highlight their role in building the country’s economy.
Music, dance, and patriotic spirit echoed through the streets as Belizeans celebrated more than four decades of independence, united in pride and optimism for the future.
