By Zoila Palma: Belize Cancer Society (BCS) proudly announced that its President Kim Simplis Barrow, was recently featured on the SJC/SJCJC Wildcat Podcast, hosted by Adelaide Sabido, Head of Marketing and Communications at St. John’s College, and co-host Margarita Blanco.
The discussion focused on breast cancer awareness, the importance of early detection, and the vital role of community support in the ongoing fight against cancer.
The engaging conversation provided an opportunity to reach and inspire younger audiences, encouraging students to become advocates for health education and awareness.
During the interview, Barrow underscored the message that “awareness saves lives,” reminding listeners that every person — regardless of age — can contribute to making a difference in their communities.
In a gesture of solidarity, Dr. Fidel Pol, Headmaster of St. John’s College (SJC); Dr. Solangel Alvarado, Dean of St. John’s College Junior College (SJCJC); and Dr. Alexia Pol, Associate Dean of St. John’s College University (SJCU), presented a cheque for $1,300.86 to the Belize Cancer Society.
The donation was raised through the institutions’ “Wear Pink” Campaign, a student-led initiative supported by the college leadership, faculty, and student body.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Barrow commended the SJC and SJCJC community for their compassion and leadership. “What the SJC and SJCJC community has done is truly inspiring. You’ve shown that compassion, leadership, and service are powerful tools in the fight against cancer,” she said.
The Belize Cancer Society extended its thanks to the administration, faculty, and students for their ongoing partnership, reaffirming its shared mission to build a future where awareness, hope, and action save lives.
