By Zoila Palma: The Belize Cancer Society (BCS) hosted its First Annual Pink Gala on October 25th, marking a memorable evening of elegance, compassion, and collective purpose in the nation’s fight against cancer.
The event, held at Caribbean Motors, brought together survivors, supporters, corporate partners, and community leaders — all adorned in shades of pink — to celebrate hope and reaffirm the Society’s mission of saving lives through education, early detection, and access to care.
The Pink Gala proved to be a resounding success, drawing a full house and capturing the spirit of resilience that defines the cancer awareness movement. Guests enjoyed a night filled with inspiring survivor stories, moving tributes, and live entertainment, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and unity. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of cancer survivors, whose courage continues to motivate others in their own journeys of healing and strength.
In her heartfelt address Kim Simplis Barrow, President of the Belize Cancer Society, expressed profound appreciation to everyone who contributed to the event’s success. “Tonight, we celebrate love, courage, and community. Every person here — every sponsor, every survivor, every friend — has helped make a difference,” she said. “The Belize Cancer Society exists because of people who believe that together, we can create hope and change lives.”
Funds raised from the Pink Gala will directly support the Society’s cancer prevention programs, patient support services, and national awareness campaigns, strengthening its capacity to assist patients and families across Belize.
As the evening concluded, the sense of solidarity and hope was unmistakable — a reflection of Belize’s unwavering commitment to standing together in the fight against cancer. “The Pink Gala is more than an event,” Simplis Barrow emphasized. “It’s a symbol of our shared determination to bring hope and healing to those who need it most.”
