By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans are being advised to remain alert as moist and unstable weather conditions continue to affect the country, bringing the threat of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and localized flooding.
According to the Belize Meteorological Service, cloudy skies, showers, thunderstorms, and periods of light rain are expected across much of the country today, with the heaviest activity forecast for northern and central Belize.
An Excessive Rainfall Watch remains in effect for the next 24 to 36 hours, with forecasters warning that heavy rainfall is likely over central and northern portions of the country.
Residents are being encouraged to closely monitor weather updates and remain in contact with the Hydrology Unit and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) for information regarding flooding or rising river levels.
Temperatures are expected to remain relatively warm despite the wet conditions, reaching highs of 88 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast and 92 degrees inland.
Meanwhile, tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the region during the next 48 hours.
Forecasters say mostly cloudy skies and additional showers or thunderstorms are expected to continue into Friday, particularly over northern and inland areas.
