Belize braces for evening showers: Sunny skies to give way to increased moisture tonight

By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has released its latest weather forecast for today, indicating a day of relatively dry conditions across the country. However, there is an expected increase in moisture tonight, suggesting a slight shift in the weather pattern.

The 24-hour forecast predicts a day of sunny skies with intermittent cloudy spells. As the day progresses into the evening, the skies are expected to become cloudy at times. While showers will be isolated throughout the day, the forecast indicates that a few showers are likely to affect mainly the northern regions and coastal areas later tonight.

Marine conditions are relatively calm, with east-to-southeast winds blowing at 5 to 15 knots. The sea state is described as light chop, with wave heights ranging from 2 to 4 feet. These conditions are conducive for most marine activities, though smallcraft should exercise caution.

Temperature-wise, coastal areas can expect highs of 86°F (30°C) and lows of 76°F (24°C). Inland regions will experience slightly higher temperatures, with highs reaching up to 90°F (32°C) and lows around 70°F (21°C). The hill areas of Belize are forecasted to have cooler temperatures, with a high of 76°F (24°C) and a low of 64°F (18°C).

Looking ahead to Wednesday and Wednesday night, the Meteorological Service anticipates cloudy skies at times, with a few showers expected over most areas of Belize.

For those planning their day around the tides, the low tide will occur at 7:58 AM followed by a high tide at 1:59 PM. Another low tide is expected at 8:28 PM, with the next high tide early tomorrow morning at 2:25 AM. The sun rose this morning at 6:26 AM and is expected to set at 5:38 PM. Moon watchers can catch the moonrise at 10:36 AM and the moonset at 11:07 PM tonight.

Forecaster Derrick Rudon emphasized the importance of staying updated with the latest weather reports, especially for those involved in marine activities, as weather conditions can change rapidly.
