By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Men’s National Team defeated Anguilla 1-0 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Wednesday and climbed back to Concacaf League B from which they were booted last year.
Orlando Velasquez scored Belize only goal in the 56th minute and it was enough to secure the victory.
With one game pending, Belize now have nine points from three matches. Neither, Anguilla, with three points, nor Turks and Caicos Islands can jump past them now.
The triangular continues on Saturday, October 12, when Turks and Caicos Islands take on Anguilla at 8:00 pm. The triangular closes with Belize playing Turks and Caicos Islands on Tuesday, October 15, at 8:00 pm.
Under new coach, Belizean Charlie Slusher, Belize topped the CNL C September round robin held in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, in September, dumping Turks and Caicos Islands 4-0 and Anguilla 1-0. With Wednesday’s second win over Anguilla, Belize have topped the group and have fulfilled their first goal.
