Belize Bank held its 13th Annual Scholarship Ceremony on July 29, awarding scholarships to 14 deserving students—five at the sixth form level and nine at the high school level.
In his address, Belize Bank Chairman Felippe Alario emphasized the Bank’s commitment to student success by announcing that each scholarship recipient will be paired with a Belize Bank mentor that will provide guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the students’ academic journeys. Alario encouraged students to remain open to the rapid changes in the world, especially with the rise of new technologies. Speaking directly to them, he advised: “Be curious, stay adaptable, embrace the unfamiliar.”
The keynote speaker, Hon. Ramon Cervantes, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, highlighted the impact of the Belize Bank Scholarship Program. “Education is the primary tool to transform circumstance,” he noted, praising the program’s ongoing contribution to national development.
In the last twelve years, The Belize Bank Scholarship Program has supported 100 students through high school and 58 at the sixth form level. In the 2025 selection, 15 students were chosen out 175 applicants – awarded based on financial need and academic excellence. High school scholarship recipients will receive full tuition and fees for four years, an annual $300 book grant, school supplies, and access to the mentorship program; Sixth form recipients will receive full tuition and fees for two years, school supplies, and mentorship support.
