By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize have regained the lead 2–1 against St. Martin after a spectacular individual effort by Marlon Meza Jr in the 74th minute, restoring the advantage in this decisive battle for third place in Group A of the Concacaf Men’s Under‑20 Championship.

Meza, who has been one of Belize’s standout performers throughout the match, picked up the ball in the middle of the field and drove straight through the heart of the St. Martin defence. He beat two defenders on the run, held off a third, and then hammered a low shot into the right corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The goal adds to Belize’s earlier breakthrough in the 31st minute, when Meza created the opener with another superb play through midfield, setting up Eddie Williams, who calmly finished to make it 1–0. St. Martin equalized early in the second half through Kenjy Hon after a defensive lapse, but Meza’s brilliance has now put Belize back in control.

But the U20 BMNT now face a tense final stretch after Diefson Cartagena was sent off in the 82nd minute for a second yellow card, leaving the team with 10 men while holding a 2–1 lead over St. Martin in this decisive battle for third place in Group A of the Concacaf Men’s Under‑20 Championship.

Now reduced to ten players, Belize must dig deep to protect their advantage and secure third place, which they will clinch with either a win or a draw. St. Martin, meanwhile, need a victory to leapfrog Belize in the standings.

The final minutes promise to be intense as Belize fight to close out their campaign on a strong note.
