Belize Audubon Society rangers assist in battling fires inside Elijio Panti National Park

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Audubon Society Rangers joined firefighting efforts inside the Elijio Panti National Park for 2 nights.

Chair of the Itzamna Society in San Antonio, Cayo Maria Garcia explained that her team and the rangers have not slept for days and nights as they continue to monitor the fire inside the park.

Maria expressed sadness on the blazes inside the park that are destroying the natural resources.

The Belize Audubon Society and the Itzamna Society are members of the Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations (APAMO).

“The rangers are usually assigned to Guanacaste National Park and St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park but they felt it was only right to assist a fellow conservation organization to protect the ecosystem in their care,” the Belize Audubon Society noted.

The rangers of the Elijio Panti National Park, villagers and volunteers continue to battle fires inside the park.
