By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Saturday is another hot and sunny day as the Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge moves into Stage 2. The race continues from Banana Bank to Double Head Cabbage, following Friday’s extremely competitive initial stage.

The competition has intensified after Memory Lane Global Mission secured a narrow victory over the defending champions, Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb, in a breathtaking battle to the finish line at Banana Bank. With only a fraction of a second separating the two teams, the stage is set for an equally competitive showdown today.

Teams to Watch:
1. Memory Lane Global Mission (Men) – 05:11:31.37
– Team members: Amado Cruz, Cristian Lopez, Carlos Linares
– With their Stage 1 victory, they are now the team to beat. Will they maintain their momentum?

2. Slim and Trim Like Guava Limb (Men) – 05:11:32.05
– Team members: Javier Guardado, Daniel Cruz Jr., Andres Cabb Jr.
– The defending champions are undoubtedly eager to reclaim their lead.

3. UES Lucas Oil (Mixed) – 05:11:37.03

Today’s stage promises an extenuating journey along the river, with participants facing both natural challenges and the fierce heat. Spectators are gathered along the banks leading to Double Head Cabbage, cheering on their favourite teams as the paddlers navigate through the scenic Belize River, battling not only the river’s currents but also each other in their quest for glory.
