By Aaron Humes: Police have formally arrested and charged a 28-year-old soldier, Emil Fernando, for the crime of sexual assault.
On Tuesday, August 19, about 6:00 p.m., a 20-year-old Belizean waitress of Orange Walk District reported that while working around 5:00 p.m., four men patronized the establishment where they ate and consumed beers. While she was clearing the table, one of the men touched her inappropriately.
Police were contacted, and the perpetrator was identified as Emil Fernando. He was escorted to the police station, where he was later formally arrested and charged.
