BBN in partnership with StemU Foundation honors Lianne Herrera- Awe as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) model in Belize

By Zoila Palma:  Breaking Belize News (BBN) in partnership with StemU Foundation honors Lianne Herrera- Awe as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) model in Belize.

Belizean educator Lianne Herrera-Awe is being celebrated for more than 20 years of dedication to the country’s education system, a career marked by her commitment to nurturing young minds and promoting innovation in the classroom.

Born in Belize City in 1981, Herrera-Awe has taught students from Infant 2 through Fourth Form and has spent the past five years serving as an Education Officer at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Herrera-Awe’s passion for teaching began early, motivated by the guidance of her primary school teacher Winsome Ciampa and her uncle, the late Owen Morrison.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Galen University, she continued her academic journey overseas, obtaining a Master’s in Education Teaching and Innovation from the University of South Wales.

She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of Malawi, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and strengthening Belize’s education sector through advanced scholarship.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Herrera-Awe is known for her love of nature and music, finding balance through outdoor exploration and the rhythms that inspire her.
