Bartender charged for allegedly assaulting baby mama over visitation rights

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Djimon Roberts, a Belize City bartender, is out on bail for allegedly assaulting the mother of his son during a domestic incident over visitation rights.

Roberts appeared in court unrepresented on Wednesday and was read a single count of common assault. He pleaded not guilty and was offered bail in the sum of $600 plus one surety of the same amount. He must not interfere with the mother of his child and stay away as conditions of his bail.

The child’s mother reported that on Tuesday after 4 p.m. she was getting ready for school when Roberts visited her home and wanted to take their son. She told the court, however, that she has a visitation rights court order, and Roberts must inform her ahead of time when taking the child. She claims that Roberts pushed her in the chest because she didn’t want him to take their son and she made the report against him.
