By Horace Palacio: UDP Leader Shyne Barrow has dismissed concerns about Lee Mark Chang’s candidacy in Mesopotamia, stating that he does not see Chang as a serious threat in the upcoming elections.
Chang, who launched his campaign last week with much fanfare, is running under Tracy Panton’s slate. However, Barrow brushed off the announcement, suggesting that Chang has no real connection to the constituency.
“I’m not concerned about Mr. Chang,” Barrow said. “We’ll send him back to his multi-million dollar mansion on Seashore Drive. He has never been in Mesopotamia, never done anything for the people there, so no concern about Mr. Chang.”
When asked about Chang’s campaign launch, which drew a notable crowd, Barrow dismissed it as insignificant.
“Fifty people that didn’t get their $30,” Barrow said, implying that attendees may have been expecting handouts. “I ended up giving them assistance because they’re my people, and you know they just went to see the puppy show, so no concern.”
While Chang’s candidacy has stirred political chatter, Barrow remains confident that his influence in Mesopotamia is unshaken.
