By Breaking Belize News Staff: Anthony Lloyd Reyes, 27, a barber of Burrell Boom Village, has been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply after police allegedly found 6.05 grams of suspected cocaine during a vehicle search linked to a robbery investigation in Sandhill.
Reyes appeared on Wednesday afternoon before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1, accompanied by his attorney, Norman Rodriguez. He was read a single charge of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply and pleaded not guilty.
The court granted him bail in the sum of $3,000 plus one surety of the same amount, which he was able to meet. As part of his bail conditions, Reyes is required to sign in at the Burrell Boom Police Station every Tuesday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. His next court date is set for April 2026.
However, just as Reyes secured his bail, CIB officers stepped in and further detained him pending investigations into an armed robbery reported in Sandhill.
According to police, on Monday, February 9, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a team of officers—including Officer Sierra, Chun, Mena, and Sgt. Eck—responded to reports of a grey van with tinted windows heading toward the Burrell Boom area with suspects believed to have just committed a robbery in Sandhill.
Police intercepted the van, but it allegedly sped off upon noticing law enforcement and drove onto the Burrell Boom Road. The vehicle was later seen making a U-turn onto the Burrell Boom/Hattieville Road, where it eventually came to a stop.
The driver exited and identified himself as Anthony Lloyd Reyes. Police informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs and firearms. During the search, officers reportedly discovered a small plastic bag containing another bag with suspected cocaine.
Reyes was informed that the van was believed to have been involved in the Sandhill robbery and was detained and escorted to the police station. There, the suspected cocaine was weighed and amounted to 6.05 grams.
Investigations into the robbery remain ongoing.
