Bar disturbance leaves two injured in San Felipe village

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating an altercation that left a woman and her partner injured at a bar in San Felipe village, Orange Walk.

Reports are that officers spoke with a 28-year-old Belizean woman of the village, who stated that she was socializing at Gorgies Bar along with her common-law husband.

According to her account, while at the establishment, a man known to her for several years, and identified as a former relative by relationship, entered the bar and began provoking patrons in an apparent attempt to start a fight.

The woman reported that she stood up and told the individual to calm down, which allegedly caused him to become aggressive. She stated that he then struck her to the right side of her face.

During the altercation, her common-law husband intervened, at which point the accused reportedly inflicted a cut wound to his right inner palm.

Both individuals were later escorted to the police station to provide formal statements.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
