Back to Business: PLB Semifinals set to kick off Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: With the Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) wrapping up their participation in the 2025/26 Concacaf Friendly Series, it’s back to the grind for Belize’s top clubs as the Premier League of Belize (PLB) shifts into playoff mode.

The Opening Championship semifinals are now locked in for the upcoming weekend, following a brief pause that allowed national team players and coaches to focus fully on international fixtures in St Kitts and Nevis. The league’s scheduling ensured no overlap, giving Belize’s best a chance to represent the country before diving back into the domestic title race.

Leg 1

🔰 Progresso FC (#3) vs Port Layola (#2)

📍 Sat, Nov 22 – People’s Stadium, Orange Walk — 3:30pm

🔰 Belmopan FC (#4) vs Verdes FC (#1)

📍 Sat, Nov 22 – Isidoro Beaton Stadium, Belmopan — 7:30pm

🔰 Verdes FC (#1) vs Belmopan FC (#4)

📍 Sat, Nov 29 – Edmund Marshalleck Stadium, Benque Viejo del Carmen — 7:30pm

🔰 Port Layola (#2) vs Progresso FC (#3)

📍 Sun, Nov 30 – Marion Jones Sports Complex, Belize City — 4:00pm

Belize won both matches in Basseterre, edging Saint Martin 1–0 before overpowering hosts St Kitts and Nevis 6–2 in a commanding finish. The series was especially memorable for Verdes striker Desmond Wade, who exploded with four goals—including a hat trick against St Kitts—that now fuels anticipation for his return to club duty.
