By Breaking Belize News Staff: Three years after the broad daylight execution of Winston “Tanga” James, two men alleged to be associates of the George Street Gang have been committed to stand trial at the October session of the High Court.
Following the conclusion of a paper committal Preliminary Inquiry (PI) in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, Chief Magistrate Deborah Rogers ruled that there is sufficient evidence for 20-year-old Azzane Kaylon Domingo and 34-year-old Eustace Lewis to face trial. Domingo will stand trial for murder, while Lewis faces charges of abetment to murder.
James was gunned down on January 21, 2022, just moments after leaving his attorney’s office on Southside Belize City following a court appearance. He was pursued by armed men and shot multiple times before crashing his vehicle into a building, where he died. His common-law wife was also in the vehicle, sustained injuries in the attack, and has since reportedly become a key witness for the prosecution.
The PI saw the Crown present over 100 pages of disclosure, including 25 witness statements, dozens of documentary exhibits, police camera footage, crime scene photos, WhatsApp messages, medical and autopsy reports, and statements taken from both accused men.
Chief Magistrate Rogers issued alibi warnings to both accused. Domingo informed the court he will call four alibi witnesses, three women and one man, while Lewis indicated he will rely on one male witness in his defense.
Domingo, who remains unrepresented, was first charged with James’s murder in September 2024 and is also facing additional charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and wounding in relation to the injuries sustained by Wade. He has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison pending trial.
Lewis, represented by attorney Ellis Arnold, was charged with abetment to murder and had previously been granted Supreme Court bail. That bail was reinstated by the Chief Magistrate today.
Both men are set to stand trial during the High Court’s October session, which begins on October 15, 2025.
