By Aaron Humes: Attorney Sharon Pitts of Pitts, Pitts & Associates Law Firm has officially notified the Clerk of the Dangriga Magistrate’s Court, Antoinette Savery, of her representation for eleven teachers involved in recent protests. The teachers are said to be linked to actions taken on Wednesday against the Government, which have intensified tensions.

The teacher names listed in the legal notice include Ifasina Efunyemi, Rosalyn Cornelius, Denise Henry, Derrick Martinez, Eli Villata, Loretta Montero, Phidalia Castillo, Victor Williams, Clifton Lorenzo, Francis Williams, and Denrick Walton. Pitts further expressed her intention to represent any additional educators who may face similar legal threats in connection with the protests.

The teachers deliberately blocked traffic in major municipalities on Wednesday in support of their stance seeking better conditions and support.

Negotiations are set to resume later this month with the spectre of a strike still looming.
