Quilter has been formally charged with murder.

As reported by then-Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, “…sometime after 10 p.m., police were called to an area where there was a fight. Upon arrival, two persons were found with injuries, one [with] stab wounds, and the other beaten up. Those persons were taken to the hospital and moments later, police got a call of a shooting and upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of a male person. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Quilter and two others, Patrick Canelo and Paul Clark, were later charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the fight; Patrick Canelo pleaded guilty while the others were released on bail.
