The National Assembly of Belize is pleased to announce the official appointment of Mrs. Clarita Pech as Clerk to the National Assembly, effective 2nd January 2025. With this appointment, Mrs. Pech becomes the first woman in Belize to hold the position of Clerk of the National Assembly of Belize.
Mrs. Pech has demonstrated exceptional leadership and administrative skills during her tenure as Acting Clerk, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the National Assembly and ensuring its smooth functioning. In addition to her procedural responsibilities as Clerk, she will continue in her role as the Accounting Officer for the offices of the Contractor General, the Ombudsman, and the Integrity Commission, underscoring her expertise and commitment to upholding transparency and accountability within Belize’s parliamentary and public institutions.
With an extensive background in parliamentary and public sector management and a track record of excellence, Mrs. Pech is well-equipped to lead the Secretariat of the National Assembly in this new capacity. Her appointment is expected to further strengthen the operations and governance of the Assembly, as well as to support the democratic processes that underpin the nation’s legislative framework.
In response to her appointment, Mrs. Pech expressed her gratitude and commitment to the role, stating, “that one of her primary focuses will be supporting the initiatives of parliament to increase awareness of its role and functions as well as ensuring the continuity of professional services, and of the expertise and advice available to the parliament, its members and staff across various parliaments.”
The National Assembly of Belize offers its full support to Mrs. Pech in her new role and looks forward to her continued leadership in advancing the work of the Assembly. Mrs. Pech had been serving in the capacity of Acting Clerk.
