By Zoila Palma: The UK Government has officially opened applications for the 2025-2026 Chevening Scholarships, offering fully funded one-year master’s degrees at leading UK universities.
The application window runs from 5 August to 7 October 2025, and is open to individuals with strong leadership potential, a commitment to positive change, and a clear vision for their future impact.
Chevening has supported over 60,000 professionals globally since its inception in 1983, including more than 125 scholars from Belize.
These individuals have gone on to make significant contributions in fields such as governance, education, health, sustainability, law, and the creative arts. Many now serve as public servants, educators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, bringing global knowledge to local challenges.
Emma Hennessey, Head of the Scholarships Unit at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), highlighted the long-term impact of Chevening alumni.
“Chevening Alumni use their world-class education, global networks, and confidence gained in the UK to create meaningful, lasting change when they return home,” she said. “If you can clearly demonstrate leadership, influence, and networking skills, I strongly encourage you to apply.”

With thousands of global applications each year, candidates are advised to carefully assess their readiness and provide strong evidence of their achievements and potential.
