By Aaron Humes: Unknown thieves have once again targeted a Heritage Bank automated teller machine (ATM), this time at the U Mall compound in Ladyville along the Philip Goldson Highway.
The incident reportedly occurred either late Wednesday night or in the early hours of this morning, Thursday.
A circulating video reveals the aftermath of the theft, with large fragments of the ATM haphazardly strewn across the pavement outside the establishment.
The location of this latest theft raises significant concerns; U Mall is situated between the Ladyville police station and Price Barracks, home of the Belize Defence Force.
An investigation is underway. The Bank has said publicly following a successful attack in Belize City at the PUMA Gas Station on Fabers Road and two unsuccessful incidents in Cayo that it is considering ending the service altogether due to financial and security concerns.
