By Zoila Palma: Businessman Andrew Munnings, owner of Munnings Funeral Services is now urging Belizean businesses to register with the Belize Tax Service and benefit from the new Amnesty program launched by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Munnings explained more about his own experience and tax woes.
“I am asking Young Business Owners that have not registered with the Belize Tax Service for Business Tax, please take advantage of these opportunities. Dreaming of your Business is the first step, holding a Business Name Certificate is the second step and finding out your responsibilities as a Business Owner come after,” Munnings said.
“When I first started I did not even know the foundation of running a business, don’t let my ignorance to the process and the Governments punishment on me be your misfortune,” Munnings added.
However, Munnings said that many businesses have closed down and many are scared because they do not know.
Munnings also urged those responsible to launch campaigns, go to schools, have small business expos and pop up TAX FREE to inform Belizeans.
“When a Business Name is registered the responsibility of our Government is to also educate us in that moment about what is our responsibilities next. Congrats on registering your Business Name, nowwwww this comes NEXT,” Munnings stated.
Munnings says the newly launched Amnesty program for MSMEs is a step in the right direction for businesses who wishes to register and not be back-tax.
