By Zoila Palma: Today, Area Representative for Belize Rural South Andre Perez issued a statement saying that following consultations between the Prime Minister, the Caye Caulker Village Council, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Hon. Andre Perez, the matter of the new police station was formalized, and the community has been informed.
“As consultations have concluded, there will be no further negotiation.
Hon. Andre Perez supports this decision and will work to ensure the project advances in a manner that respects the concerns of the community while also improving public safety. Further updates will be provided as available,” Perez said.
The Caye Caulker Village Council and residents had been collecting signatures in an effort to trigger a referendum and “save their police station.”
