By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade bid farewell to Carlos Alberto Reyes García, the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala to Belize, during a formal ceremony hosted by Chief Executive Officer Amalia Mai on Friday.
Ambassador Reyes García officially began his term in Belize on September 17, 2023, and prioritized building and strengthening bilateral relations between Guatemala and Belize.
While the ceremony acknowledged the ambassador’s impactful work, no successor has yet been announced.
Sources from the Ministry indicate that discussions are ongoing with Guatemala’s diplomatic sector regarding the appointment and timing of the next ambassador to Belize.
