By Breaking Belize News Staff: Convicted rapist Leon Darrel Lamb, 29, has rejected a 10-year sentencing indication for a charge of burglary with intent to rape and will instead proceed to trial in September.

Lamb, born March 21, 1997, and a resident of Antelope Street Extension, appeared before the Chief Magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, where his trial was expected to begin.

However, Lamb requested a sentencing indication from the court in the event that he decided to plead guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate indicated that he would face 10 years in prison and that the sentence would be ordered to run consecutively to any prison term he is already serving, rather than concurrently.

Lamb then rejected the indication and maintained a not guilty plea. His trial has been set for September 16 and 17, 2026.

The charge stems from a burglary report made after police were called to a Southside Belize City home around 5:30 a.m on June 28, 2025. Police say a man reportedly entered the home and attacked several persons, including an 11-year-old girl, before fleeing the area.

According to police reports, a 24-year-old man living on the lower flat of the house told investigators that he heard a noise around 4:00 a.m., turned on his light, opened his window, and saw a shirtless man in the yard with his pants down to his knees. The witness said he shouted at the man and then noticed that his 11-year-old niece was nearby.

The minor later reported to police that the man had chased her, caught her, stripped her of her clothing, and struggled with her, causing an injury to the right side of her face.

Police say the homeowner also reported that she woke up after hearing a loud noise and found a male person inside her room. She said the man attacked her husband, causing him to fall unconscious, and later punched her in the face, causing a cut under her right eye. Police said three persons were issued medico-legal forms and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Two relatives later reportedly pursued the suspect and saw him on Central American Boulevard, shirtless, muddy, and wearing khaki pants. They identified him as Leon Lamb, whom they had known from the neighborhood.

Lamb is already serving a prison sentence for rape. On December 18, 2025, he was sentenced to 21 years, 1 month, and 26 days for the September 24, 2022 rape of a 30-year-old woman inside her home in broad daylight and in the presence of her roommate.

Five months later, on May 4, 2026, Lamb was sentenced to an additional three years for sexual assault of a minor student. That sentence was also ordered to run consecutively to his rape sentence.
