By Zoila Palma:  Commander of Community Policing Howell Gillett says that the Community Policing Unit is proud to showcase nearly 100 cadets from the Belize and Stann Creek Districts as part of this year’s Garifuna Settlement Day activities.

“Their participation is more than a ceremonial presence—it is a meaningful opportunity for interaction, cultural appreciation, and community building.

Engagements like these are vital to our mission. They allow our officers and cadets to connect with community members in positive, non-enforcement settings, helping to build trust, mutual respect, and a shared sense of responsibility. By taking part in national and cultural celebrations, we reinforce our commitment to civic duty and demonstrate our support for the rich heritage that unites us as Belizeans,” Gillett expressed.

Gillett says that these participations nurtures the values of service, discipline, and cultural pride among our young cadets.
