By Breaking Belize News Staff: Ladyville resident Allen Anderson Jr. is a free man after a gang membership charge against him was dismissed in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Anderson Jr. appeared in Court #1 for what was scheduled to be his trial date when the Chief Magistrate dismissed the charge of being a member of a gang.
The court noted that the information and complaint filed against Anderson Jr. were flawed. Among the deficiencies highlighted was the absence of a date of offense in the documents. The Chief Magistrate pointed out that this omission was a critical defect.
Anderson Jr. had been accused of being a member of a gang, specifically the Vista Side Bloods.
Outside the courthouse following the dismissal, Anderson Jr. said that during an earlier Case Management Conference, the Chief Magistrate had indicated that police had no evidence against him to support the charge.
He further stated that before dismissing the matter, the Chief Magistrate explained the flaws in the case, including the failure to include a date in the information and complaint.
With the charge dismissed, Anderson Jr. walked free from the allegation of gang membership.
