By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City taxi driver is out on bail after being arraigned on Monday afternoon on a single charge of sexual assault.
Herbert G. Taylor, 51, of Lacroix Boulevard, appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Deborah Rogers in Court #1, where he was formally read the charge. The allegation stems from an incident on September 9, 2025, during which Taylor is accused of inappropriately touching a woman on her leg during a cab drop-off. Taylor pleaded not guilty, insisting in court, “I never touched her on her leg.”
Bail was granted in the sum of $6,000 with two sureties of $3,000 each. Conditions of his release include staying at least 100 yards away from the victim, avoiding interference with any witnesses, and reporting to the Mahogany Street Police Station every Tuesday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Taylor is scheduled to return to court on December 12, 2025, to continue proceedings.
