By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA) turned a fresh page in its sporting history during its Annual General Meeting held Saturday, June 28, 2025, announcing a newly elected Executive Board tasked with guiding the association through its next chapter.
Allan Sharp, representing the Belize Volleyball Association, was elected as President for the period 2025-2029, affirming the confidence in his leadership from the sporting community. Joining him on the executive team are a diverse group of sporting figures, each bringing expertise from their respective disciplines.
Sharp, who was previously the Secretary General, replaces Hilly Martinez who was president since 2013.
The newly elected board comprises:
- Vice President: Herman Pastor (Karate)
- Secretary General: Giovanni Alamilla (Aquatics)
- Assistant Secretary General: Sharon Hardwick (Sailing)
- Treasurer: Arturo Vasquez (Table Tennis)
Three additional Executive Members were also named, reflecting BOCGA’s broad commitment to sport development across Belize:
- Kaya Cattouse (Triathlon)
- Raul Rosado (Basketball)
- Leticia Westby (Cycling)
BOCGA emphasized its commitment to “excellence, unity, and the development of sport in Belize,” and hailed the newly appointed board as a strong team poised to continue building on recent progress in local and international sporting arenas.
Saturday’s election marks a renewed momentum as Belize prepares its athletes for upcoming regional and international competitions under the Olympic and Commonwealth Games banners.
