By Aaron Humes: As the country continues to grieve the heavy loss of life late Saturday night on the Philip Goldson Highway, 12 of the accident victims have now been named.
The deceased are Roduel Parham, Aimee Hernandez, Shailer Lopez, Jahiem Iglesias, Ashley Bradley, Kaitlyn Pinelo, Dennis Williams, Jasmine Rodriguez and her toddler Jazelle Rodriguez; Janellie and Frank Burns are being treated for serious injuries.
According to preliminary reports, there was a collision between a Ford Expedition heading to Benque Viejo Town from San Ignacio. That vehicle carried the Burns and two other passengers who did not receive life-threatening injuries.
The Expedition collided with a Toyota Corolla taxi car that was heading in the opposite direction, carrying nine persons inside. A motorcycle which was also traveling in the same direction also collided into the SUV. The rider of the motorcycle passed away on the spot.
Following the collision, both vehicles burst into flames, killing all but two occupants of the SUV.
Police investigations continue but already various potential causes of the accident have been posited on social media along with a collective call to action by the Government and enforcement authorities.
