By Breaking Belize News Staff: This morning, UDP stalwart Alberto August responded with fiery remarks of his own to Lee Mark Chang’s attack yesterday on him and Shyne following a public display of unity by Shyne and Tracy during the 10th parade.
In his post yesterday, Chang blasted UDP Leader Shyne Barrow and Alberto August, accusing them of “tantamount to treason” and suggesting that their push to shift conventions and amend party rules was motivated by selfish deeds.
“Do both of you actually think the people of Belize believe this? This is not Hollywood or the Grammys,” Chang wrote after the rare show of unity during the 10th parade in Belize City. “What you both have done to my country and party is tantamount to treason. You and your handful of supporters keep moving the goal posts so often and so far that you expect us to believe that the leopard spots has changed?”
Chang went further, accusing Barrow and August of harming the UDP more than helping it, saying Belizeans do not trust them.
In response, August fired back today, saying Chang is the real problem within the UDP. He accused him of being financially compromised by the PUP, claiming Chang collects nearly $20,000 in monthly rent from the government and is therefore unwilling to criticize Prime Minister John Briceño or his ministers.
“This fella is the cancer in the UDP,” August wrote. “As long as he continues to collect personal monthly money from the PUP, he will continue being bad for the UDP regardless of the crumbs he gives to a few around him. This PUP-compromised character can never lead me.”
August added that while many UDP supporters embraced the unity shown by Shyne Barrow and Tracy Panton marching together on September 10th, Chang was the only voice tearing it down.
“The UDP is going nowhere with this 600-votes character,” August declared. “Yes I said it and as long as he continues in his destructive ways I will not remain silent because I am 100% convinced that THIS FELLA is BAD for the UDP.”
